The seventh-ranked Jabeur, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, saved her best performance of the tournament for the final and raced to victory in 78 minutes. "I felt tactically I played very well, I had an advantage in that I had more experience than her to manage certain points," Jabeur said. "Playing a final here is more relaxed than playing a Grand Slam final, but I think it will help me gain confidence more, and to help me manage the pressure and stress." The Tunisian had 18 winners to only 10 unforced errors, while saving all three break points she faced, denying the 19-year-old Shnaider any chance to get a foothold in the match. Seven player withdrawals turns Ningbo Open into WTA 500 with more lucky losers than qualifiers

Image
The mad scene even saw Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva attempt to fly back to secure an astonishing opportunity. The Ningbo Open is a WTA 500 event with a 28-player draw. By Wednesday, 25% of the field was represented by lucky losers, surpassing the six qualifiers that had earlier made their way through. The likes of Jasmine Paolini and Emma Navarro had previously pulled out of the tournament, before home favorite Zheng Qinwen became the seventh competitor to withdraw following her semifinal and runner-up showings at Beijing and Wuhan. Jaqueline Cristian, who had lost in the opening round of qualifying to Liechtenstein’s Kathinka Von Deichmann, moved into Zheng’s second-round slot to face Karolina Muchova.   Zheng was recently defeated by Muchova in the Beijing semifinals. Having fallen in the final stage of qualifying herself, Von Deichmann was later involved with two first-round matchups between lucky losers. She ultimately saw her second-chance hopes dashed by Ella Seidel of German

Secret tomb found under ‘Indiana Jones’ filming location in Petra

The discovery of at least 12 skeletons underneath the Khaznah, or the Treasury, may be the largest collection of human remains found in one place within Petra, Jordan, researchers said.   Discovery’s Expedition Unknown At the heart of the ancient city of Petra, Jordan, carved into pink sandstone cliffs, lies an elaborate monument known as the Khaznah, or the Treasury. And buried beneath that edifice, archaeologists recently discovered, is a tomb with at least 12 human skeletons and artifacts that are estimated to be at least 2,000 years old. Archaeologists led by Dr. Pearce Paul Creasman, executive director of the American Center of Research, unearthed the ancient tomb. The expedition was studying the Treasury after years of speculation that two tombs found below the left side of the monument in 2003 weren’t the only secret underground chambers. But that theory had not been confirmed — until now. Creasman and his team performed ground-penetrating radar — a  remote sensing  technique

In an attempt to sum up everything that happened: Stephen (Jackson White) and Diana (Alicia Crowder) broke up — an idea she made him think was his doing, but she’d been planning all along to get him away. (No, her dad never turned off her credit cards!) There was no sadness at all for Stephen, who immediately slept with Lucy (Grace Van Patten). Right after  that  hookup, Lucy went back to Leo (Thomas Doherty) and slept with him — without even changing her underwear. That tidbit came in hand for Stephen later when he brought up what she was wearing to prove to Leo they’d hooked up hours before and led to Leo punching him repeatedly until his face was unrecognizable. Then there were Bree (Catherine Missal) and Oliver (Tom Ellis), who were finally caught by Marianne (Gabriella Pessio

The candle's label was compared to Ku Klux Klan hoods, prompting Bath and Body Works to pull it from shelves.   Bath & Body Works, Inc. New York CNN  —  Bath and Body Works  has stopped selling a candle that was emblazoned with a winter theme that many commenters online compared to a Ku Klux Klan hood. The candle’s label, called “Snowed In,” was decorated with a stylized paper snowflake. But many people on social media compared it to the  hoods and robes worn  by Klansmembers. The KKK is the one of the “oldest and most infamous” hate groups in the United States,  according  to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The  Anti-Defamation League says  that the imagery of the KKK hood itself has become a hate symbol. The candle has since been pulled from Bath and Body Works’ website and retail locations, with the company telling CNN in a statement its design was “unintentional.” “At Bath and Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing a
